Childhood Cancer Awareness

According to the latest data of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization, the global numbers on childhood cancer increased over the last decades, with almost 300,000 new cases in 2016 – that's 820 new cases per day, being Leukemia the most common in children aged 15 years or less.

If we look at childhood cancer cases in the US, numbers are still shocking. Each year more than 15,000 children and young adults are diagnosed with any form of cancer.

Childhood cancer causes are still very unclear, however, it is known that it cannot be treated exactly the same as adult cancer. Current treatments are toxic to the children and often affect their development. This is why many hospitals and foundations worldwide have funding programs to study what causes childhood cancer to research for specialized treatments that will be less aggressive to kids.
