Spring Cleaning for a Fresh New Home
Posted on April 03 2017
It is time to say goodbye to those cold days. Spring it is finally here. New, fresh and happy vibes surround everyone. Flowers are blossoming during this season. We are getting more hours of sunlight every day. Love is in the air! Unfortunately, allergies are around the corner for some of us, but overall, spring is here to cheer everyone up and to walk, side by side with us, taking us to S-U-M-M-E-R!!
And if that wasn't enough to make you smile, Easter is already here! with all its Egg Hunting bunnies, decoration, chocolate and family reunions over super delicious fresh dishes, including more salads and fewer soups and stews that belong to the winter.
Beyond all the yummy dishes and fun gatherings, it is also the time to give your house and work space a facelift. During the year we keep ̶a̶l̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ everything well arranged and clean, but it is in spring time that our home is waiting for the total makeover. If you are not sure where to start from, check out the ideas below to spring clean every corner of your home!
CLEAN YOUR CABINETS: Do the dusting every week keeps your furniture clean, but for spring cleaning you have to do some deeper work. Use a cabinet cream to moisturize the wood and remove dirt. It is super important to rub thoroughly in your kitchen cabinets, as grease can easily impregnate the cabinet surface and grow an invisible layer.
WASH THE WINDOWS: spring is the perfect time to do the whole makeover to your home, windows included. Get ready to wash them inside AND outside. Use warm soapy water followed by warm clear water to rinse them. Don't forget the edges!
MAKE THE TILES ALL BRIGHT & CLEAN: beyond cleaning surfaces and bathroom utilities, do not forget about the tiles. Dirt can be spotted easily from the distance, which will ruin the whole vision of your clean bathroom or kitchen. Give the tiles a deep clean by using a mix of 1/2 cup of baking soda and water. Use a brush to help you clean and remove dirt and stains.
MATTRESS: use this new season to clean your bed, and we are not referring to your bedding, but to the mattress. During the year, we pay more attention to sheets, cushions, and pillows. This time, we will focus on the mattress. First, use a vacuum to remove dirt and particles that are on the upholstery and wash all stains with an upholstery shampoo (or a dish soap) and sleep in a fresher mattress.
WASH YOUR WALLS: if you have painted walls, use this spring to wash those stains that you've already spotted! To remove the dirt, you can use either a cloth or a sponge with some water. If the stain doesn't disappear, add some dishwashing liquid followed by clear water to rinse the section of the wall where the spot was.
REARRANGE YOUR BOOKCASE: are you facing your bookcase yet? Yes? Great! Take everything off the shelves, clean them with a humid cloth and put, one by one, all the books back where they belong to. You can use the same humid cloth to wash the covers of your books and rearrange them by color and sizes for a fun decor. You can also play with the position, placing some of them vertically and other horizontally.
DOUBLE YOUR DOOR MATS: It is an excellent idea to place a door mat outside of the house and another one inside. Doubling the door mats will increase the chance to trap all dirt, and makes your entryway cozier and more complete.
PREP FOR YOUR UPCOMING OUTDOORS REUNIONS: it is time to rescue your outdoor chairs, tables and other garden furniture and items from the basement to get ready for all the BBQ and gatherings you'll host with your family and friends. LANGRIA has this brand new party tent (different sizes) to celebrate the best bday parties, weddings and more! check it out clicking on the image!
WASH YOUR DISHWASHER: it is very important to wash the dishwasher from time to time to avoid smells. Run it empty with a machine cleaner and clean it to be fresh and ready to keep washing all your dishes! // Image: dishwashers.reviewed
CUTTING BOARD: if you thought that those stains on your cutting board will stay there forever and that there is nothing that you could do, well...you thought wrong! Cut a lemon in half and rub it all over the surface of your cutting board. This trick will remove the dirt and stains as well as it will get rid of smells, leaving a fresh lemon aroma instead.
SPRING CLEAN YOUR CLOSET: here it is, one of the most scaring and delicates part of your life, your closet. Before starting, breath in and out a couple of times and take it easy, it is a very simple task: we have to toss away what's been there forever and we do not wear. No excuses, no "if's", just throw it away. Once you get rid of the unnecessary clothes, arrange them by colors to create a fresh and lovely look. You will notice instantly how easy is to pick your clothes when everything is well organized!
